Newcastle @ Manchester United (26 September 2012): Capital One Cup

The mags play their first Capital One cup fixture later today against Manchester United. Kick off is 7:45 BST, and all goes down at Old Trafford. Ryan Taylor, Simpson and Krul are all still out due to injury. However, it shouldn't matter as Pardew is set to put out a very young side as is expected from Man U. Vidic is unavailable for Alex Ferguson's selection. Fun Fact, tonights referee Anthony Taylor lives within 10 miles of Old Trafford, why that is allowed I'm clueless.

The game is live on Sky Sports 2 in the UK, but not being shown in the States. However, you can watch a live stream here:

Newcastle vs Norwich City 1- 0 (23 September 2012): Match Report

The game started well for the Canaries, the stadium erupted in praise of old manager Chris Hughton. Fully deserved he got to listen on to our chant "There's only one Chris Hughton". Soon after another old boy Sebastien Bassong had a great opportunity and shot that Harper just parried, sadly Bassong was hurt in taking the shot and was replaced by Michael Turner. In the 20th, an absolute beautiful ball from Ben Arfa hit Demba Ba in stride who confidently slid it right by the outstretched John Ruddy (1 - 0). In the 27th, Snodgross had a very good header cleared off the line by Mike Williamson. Newcastle began to dominate the match and Papiss Cisse fluffed a very god chance in the 32nd minute. In the 37th, Ben Arfa created some magic again megging an opponent then laying the ball off cleanly to the stupefied Demba Ba so impressed by the play he could only watch the ball escape from him. In the 45th, silly defending from Norwich caused a foul on Mike Williamson in the box. Papiss Cisse stepped up and blasted the ball far over the bar. The draught continues.

Second Half -

Norwich started well the second half causing a lot of pressure and doing well in the final third. However in the 55th, Newcastle almost broke though again. Ben Arfa had a good shot pushed out for a  corner and the corner resulted in a Steven Taylor chance going just over the bar. Newcastle piled on pressure and Ben Arfa and Williamson both had good chances. In the 70th Cisse was replaced by Obertan, and for Norwich Grant Holt on for Morrison. In the 76th Anita was replaced by Tiote. In the 85th Ben Arfa was replaced by Goala Ameobi. Tiote was cautioned in the 89th for a silly challenge. In the 90th a Norwich centre back foolishly tackled Obertan who did not even have possession. Somehow it was missed and the players was harshly unpunished.
